Supply Chain Security and Risk Forum 2024

On 5th September 2024, the Penang Security Practitioners Organisation (PENSEC) and ASIS International Malaysia Chapter successfully organized the Supply Chain Security and Risk Forum at The Ship Campus, hosted by PKT Logistics. This event brought together a vibrant mix of security professionals from multinational corporations, large manufacturers, logistics providers, security services providers, and SMEs.

The forum featured a highly engaging ESG-focused presentation by Jasmon Lim, Director – Northern Operations, PKT Logistics. Jasmon highlighted PKT’s mission statement and its leading role in social responsibility through initiatives like the Anak Belajar Ibu Bekerja (ABIB) and Smart Trucker programs. The presentation centered on the Triple Bottom Line, The Climate Pledge, and PKT's commitment to achieving Net Zero Carbon with their 'No ESG, No MSG' mission. He also detailed PKT's implementation of the GHG Protocol and its 5 Green Action Plans, illustrating a comprehensive approach to environmental sustainability.

Sangar Kandasamy, JASCO Co-Chairman and representative of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), delivered a forward-looking presentation on Achieving End-To-End Supply Chain Security, Resilience & Sustainability: Strategies for a Future-Proof Supply Chain Beyond 2024. He addressed the increasingly complex and risk-laden supply chain landscape, offering key trends, actionable strategies, and best practices for improving security, resilience, and sustainability. Sangar emphasized the importance of proactive risk management, adopting supply chain security best practices, and leveraging digital B2B collaboration to reduce compliance costs while enhancing operational efficiency.

The event also included a tea break, a guided tour of an ESG-compliant warehouse, and a visit to the famous PKT Japanese Garden, adding a hands-on experience to the informative sessions.

This forum underscored the critical need for securing and future-proofing supply chains through effective risk management, sustainability efforts, and innovation. A heartfelt thank you to PKT Logistics for their exceptional hospitality and for hosting this insightful event at their iconic The Ship Campus. Their commitment to sustainability and supply chain security was not only discussed but demonstrated, setting an inspiring example for all attendees.
